WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point has announced a partnership with NOCAP Sports to handle the NIL needs of their student athletes.
“We think our student athletes have value in their name, image, and likeness, and those who want to pursue opportunities to use their name, image, and likeness to generate revenue and create partnerships are pleased to help them,” says Director of Athletics Brad Duckworth.
He added that the athletes are very excited to know that they have the support of the athletic department to pursue these financial opportunities.
Duckworth also stated that NIL programs will only grow as student athletes seek more opportunities to build their brands. “This is coming, and I believe we’ll see it on a larger scale across the association as time goes on,” he said.
Following a long-standing ban by the NCAA, student athletes were finally given permission to benefit from the use of their names, images, and likeness in the summer of 2021. The NCAA had argued that it would have blurred the line between amateur and professional competition.
