
Wisconsin Badagers
MADISON, WI and MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WSAU) — The Badger men’s hockey team fell to #1 Minnesota on Friday 4-1.
The top-ranked Golden Gophers built a 4-0 lead before Wisconsin found a goal 90 seconds into the third period. That came from Stevens Point native Brock Caufield on an assist from Sam Stange.
Goalie Jared Moe was replaced after 28 minutes. He allowed three goals and made just four saves on seven shots faced. Kyle McClellan made 20 saves in relief.
The same two teams will skate again at the Kohl Center this afternoon. No coverage on WSAU due to the men’s basketball game against Nebraska.
The Badger women played to a 2-2 tie with the Gophers in Minneapolis on Friday. Goals came from Katie Kotlowski and Jesse Compher. Cami Kronish made 40 saves in net, including a whopping 20 in the 3rd period.
Wisconsin won the extra WCHA standings point by taking the shootout 1-0. Britta Curl provided the winning goal.
Again, the same two teams will skate this afternoon to wrap up the two-game weekend set.
Other action today between the Badgers and the Golden Gophers includes men’s wrestling (in Madison) and women’s basketball (in Minneapolis).
