WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man has reached a plea deal for charges of repeated sexual assault of a pre-teen girl over five years.
Joshua Wells will be in court on March 20th for a plea hearing which will cover six open cases including numerous counts of bail jumping, violating a restraining order, and operating a vehicle with a revoked license.
Wells also faces a count of repeated sexual assault of the same child, a Class C felony that encompasses at least three counts of first or second-degree sexual assault. Investigators say the incidents occurred over five years beginning when the victim was ten years old.
She came forward in 2022 to report the incidents after her 18th birthday.
Wells, who is currently listed as homeless, has been held on a $20,000 bond with several conditions including no contact with the victim or any female under the age of 18. He faces a maximum of 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines if found guilty of the repeated sexual assault charge alone.
