MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The city is looking into imposing more regulations on Delta 8 and 10 THS products, after sales were restricted in Wood County.
Wood County enacted an age restriction in August 2022, limiting the sale of products to those 21 and older. They say that the current sales regulations were too lose, that not enough stores are IDing customers, and that products are aimed at minors.
Products manufactured and marketed as sweets, gummies, and other edibles often contain delta and 8 and 10 THC as active components. They have effects that are comparable to marijuana, though supposedly less intense.
The proposed rule would limit where the products could be sold and even require customers to present ID before making a purchase. However, they could not be sold within 750 feet of a “child friendly” area. Retailers who already adhere to these rules would be given an exception.
WAOW TV reports the community will continue to hold discussions on the issue before making any decisions on the proposed ordinance.
