WESTON, WI (WSAU) — The Everest Metro Police Department is investigating the former Village of Weston Utility Clerk after she was accused of mishandling funds.
According to a joint press release from the EMPD and the Village a routine, internal review of finances revealed some irregularities. Further investigation determined that the Utility Clerk, Theresa Coleman, had access to those funds.
Coleman was quickly placed on leave as the investigation continued. She was terminated following the conclusion of the investigation on January 31st.
Findings of the investigation were turned over to the EMPD, who announced on Tuesday that they are looking into possible criminal charges for misappropriation of funds and theft.
No further information can be released at this time, and it is unclear how much money is missing from the utility.
