WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Cancelations tied to this week’s round of winter weather have extended into the courtroom.
A former substitute teacher in the Wausau School District who faces charges of first-degree child sexual assault had his trial postponed this week, with the judge citing safety concerns for the jury and all other parties involved.
This isn’t the first time that Robins’ trial has been wiped off the calendar. Previous trials were scheduled in April and October of 2022 but were pushed back.
Robins faces two felony counts of first-degree sexual assault involving a child under the age of 13. Officials say the incidents happened while he was teaching in Wausau, where he’s accused of touching a female student through a hole in the back of her clothing. He says he meant the act as a joke but later regretted it.

Robins was hired through Parallel Education, who said he had passed all background checks and other state requirements before he was hired. He was arrested a few days after the incident while working as a sub in another school district.
He returns to court on March 2nd for a calendar call to schedule further court action.
