MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — Parks and Recreation officials in Lincoln County wasted no time getting their snowmobile trails ready for riders again.
Zone three trails will open at noon on Friday, followed by Zone two and four trails at 8 AM on Saturday.
Zone one trails were still open, and will remain open in all areas except for two stretches which are impacted by a recent land ownership change. Those areas are:
- Trail 86 from Intersection #25 to the Taylor County Line.
- Corridor 21 from Hwy M north of Homestead Road to the Taylor County Line.
Additionally Marathon County announced it’s trails would open at noon Friday in all zones except for 4 and 6. Those will remain closed for now.
Riders are advised that trails may be rough, icy, or drifted in some areas. As always you are advised to respect trail closed signs and private land and to stay on marked trails.
Additionally, riders are asked to stay clear of lakes or rivers.
Mild temperatures depleted much of the snowpack around Central Wisconsin two weeks ago and forced the closure of nearly all trails.
