Kronenwetter’s Administrative Policy Committee is set to meet in Closed Session on Wednesday at 5:30 PM regarding plans to find an interim Village Administrator now that Duane Gau is no longer contracted to fill the role.
The Village Board met last Monday to formally terminate Gau’s contract for personal reasons. Following that meeting Village President Chris Voll said Police Chief Terry McHugh would be handling some administrative duties until the board could officially name a new Interim Administrator.
During last week’s meeting, some Trustees floated the idea of naming Sean Dumais to the role, provided that it would be legal to name a trustee to the post. He said he would be interested, but no formal vote on the matter was taken.
The board was scheduled to discuss the situation during a meeting on Monday, but that was postponed to Wednesday’s agenda.
Of course, the Village has been without a full-time administrator since the summer of 2022 when they parted ways with Richard Downey and brought in Gau on a series of interim contracts. Downey currently serves as the assistant Administrator in Altoona.
Voll also noted that the village has posted for the full-time position and he expects they’ll be receiving applications soon.
