Green Bay Packers
GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Packers are holding talks with some of the top draft prospects while the combine continues in Indianapolis, as many people speculate about Aaron Rodgers’ future in Green Bay.
Three of the top defensive back prospects in this year’s draft, including Alabama’s Brian Branch, Jordan Battle, and Georgia’s Kele Ringo, confirmed they formally met with the team in person yesterday. Branch is currently ranked 17th on The Athletic’s big board, Battle is ranked 56th, and Ringo is ranked 22nd.
The team has also had notable informal meetings with Iowa edge defender Lukas Van Ness, Michigan DL Mazi Smith, Oregon DB Christian Gonzalez and Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer.
For 2023 and beyond, the Packers will need to find solutions for the safety position. The contract of Adrian Amos has been voided, Darnell Savage may exercise his fifth-year option, and Rudy Ford, a crucial backup, will be an unrestricted free agent.
Almost all of the 300+ prospects in Indianapolis this week will almost certainly meet with the Packers. However, there are distinctions between formal and informal visits, so some of the top defensive backs meeting with Green Bay is thought to be an interesting development for fans to watch.
