WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office has put out another call for information on a man wanted in connection with a robbery in the Town of Rudolph.
Eugene “Gene” K. Schmidt is said to have walked into the Food Tree convenience store at 1759 Greenfield Avenue, displayed a weapon, and demanded some items. He left with cigarettes, lottery scratch-off tickets, and some cash from the register.
The incident happened in mid-February. Schmidt was named a suspect on February 22nd, when law enforcement encouraged him to turn himself in adding “be an adult and face the consequences for the dangerous actions you took.”
The 58-year-old should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows where he is should contact local law enforcement, and not try to confront him on their own.
On Monday they repeated that call by issuing a be on the lookout for Schmidt through the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network. Schmidt’s last known location was in Marathon County, though that was two weeks ago and no further information has been provided.
