WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is hoping someone will recognize items of clothing and a work boot that were connected to the discovery of skeletal remains along the Wisconsin River near Port Edwards.
According to a Facebook post, investigators found a steel-toed workboot and pair of long underwear and fleece pants along with the skeletal remains.
The boot was a size 10 Carolina-brand work boot with a Vibram sole.
No specifics regarding the pants were given, though investigators did find a handful of coins in one of the pockets; the newest being a 2016 penny.
Officers also confirmed that the remains were from a male who was between 26 and 76 years old at the time of death and is between 5’3″ and 6’0″ tall.
Anyone who may be able to provide information on the incident is asked to contact the Wood County Sheriff’s Office at 715-421-8700.
The remains were initially found in mid-July as dam workers were drawing down the river in the area. Investigators searched a wide radius for several days, but no further information had been released until now.
