CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers earned just one postseason Big Ten men’s basketball honor on Tuesday.
Freshman Connor Essegian earned a spot on the league’s All-Freshman team alongside Purdue’s Braden Smith, Bryce Sensabaugh of Ohio State, Jett Howard of Michigan, and Indiana’s Jalen Hood-Schifiano.
No other Badgers were mentioned on the league’s defensive, first, second, or third all-conference team. The league’s player of the year honor went to Purdue’s Zach Edey.
Northwestern’s Chris Collins was named the B1G coach of the year after guiding the Wildcats to a 12-8 record in league play and a second-place tie with IU. Northwestern won a tiebreaker with the Hoosiers to earn the #2 seed in the conference tournament.
Wisconsin opens Big Ten Tournament play on Wednesday with a first-round game against Ohio State. Pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 4:30 PM, with tip-off from the United Center at 5:30.
