WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Rib Mountain has been selected as the first attraction to feature on labels for the 3 Sheeps “Explore Wisconsin” beer series.
Brewmaster and Founder Grant Pauly says the idea to feature Wisconsin attractions on their beers grew out of water cooler conversations among their staff each Monday. “People would be saying where they went across the state, where they went on vacation, and so often most of us didn’t really know where they were. We hadn’t heard of these places.”
So naturally, the staff decided to promote those places by doing what they do best- making beer that’s local to Wisconsin. “Local, for us, we look at that as the entire state. We have customers who buy our products everywhere. This gives us a chance to give back in a way by promoting those different parts.”
Attractions from Eau Claire, Door County, Eagle River, and Hayward are also scheduled to be featured. They’re also opening up their direct messages on social media for suggestions on what to highlight next.
“We’re hoping our fans will give us ideas, too. You know; snap a picture, and let us know what you were up to. Hopefully, we can turn this into a big group project that promotes our state,” added Pauly.
The Rib Mountain label will be attached to cans of 3 Sheeps’ new Banshee Irish Stout. Three cans of Banshee will be included in each Explore Wisconsin Explorer pack along with three cans each of 3 Sheeps staples Fresh Coast, Chaos Pattern, and Rebel Kent.
Pauly says those 12 packs shipped this week and should be on store shelves in time for the weekend. There will also be a limited number of Banshee six-packs on sale at the 3 Sheeps taproom in Sheboygan. Pauly expects they’ll release the second beer in the series, which will feature a freshwater surfing scene from Sheboygan, later this spring.
