NEW YORK, NY (WSAU) – Marquette established an early lead and never looked back, topping Xavier to win the Big East Tournament. Marquette led 21-4 in the first half.
The final score in the championship game was 65-51.
Tyler Kolek, the Big East player of the year, finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds.
Marquette, ranked 6th in the nation, blew the game open early in the second half with a 24-point lead.
Marquette has won its last nine games heading into the NCAA tournament. They’ll learn their opening-round opponent on Sunday night.
