GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Aaron Rodgers continues to tease about his football future. At a charity flag-football event in California over the weekend he said: “Stay tuned. I think it won’t be long, there’s a time limit for all of this.”
The NFL’s free agency negotiating period begins on March 13. Teams can sign free agents starting on March 15. It’s been expected that Rodgers would make an announcement about his football future before then.
Several NFL insiders have reported that the Packers and Jets have reached an agreement on compensation for a Rodgers trade to New York. There have also been reports that the Jets have an agreement to restructure his contract, none of which has been announced publicly.
Packers team president Mark Murphy commented over the weekend that the team gave the Jets permission to meet with Rodgers last week to “reach a resolution that works not only for Aaron, but for us.” It is widely thought that the Packers are prepared to make Jordan Love their starting quarterback next season.
