WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – After months of planning and preparation, the Wausau Curling Club is prepared for the USA Curling National Club Championships this week.
The top club teams from across the country are expected to arrive on Wednesday, ready to take part in the Opening Ceremonies and the start of play on Thursday, March 16. There will be 24 men’s and women’s teams competing, with teams coming from as far away as Massachusetts, Texas, California, and Alaska.
The Wausau Club is supporting two teams in the competition as the event’s host. Lisa Landon, the team’s captain, is joined by Terri Gleason, Valerie Gorichs, Sue Gould, and Susan Peloquin on the women’s side. Tim Cucchiarelli will lead the men’s team, which also includes Todd Goetsch, Billy Splinter, Brett Ziegel, and Matt Foss.
On Friday and Saturday, March 17th and 18th, play will continue from morning to night, with tie-breakers, semi-finals, and finals on Sunday, March 19th.
The general public is invited. Single-day tickets will be $5, and full-series tickets will be $15 at the door. Tickets for seniors and students will be discounted. Children under the age of ten will be admitted free of charge.
Several games will also be live streamed on the Wausau Area Access Media YouTube channel.
