Clifford Heiser
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former Wausau EMT who is on probation for sexually assaulting a female as she was being transported to a hospital has entered a not guilty plea for new counts of sexual assault.
Clifford Heiser entered the plea on Tuesday. He faces two felony counts of sexually assaulting an unconscious victim, one of which carries a repeat modifier.
Heiser is in the midst of a four-year probationary period for a previous charge which occurred as he was helping to transport a woman to the hospital. If he completes that probationary period, he would avoid a 3.5-year prison sentence which was imposed and stayed at the conclusion of the case.
In that incident, investigators say Heiser’s saliva was found on the woman’s breast. The incident led the Wausau Fire Department to place him on leave. He later resigned.
If he’s found guilty and sentenced on the new charges, he would also serve the original 3.5-year sentence as well.
The 39-year-old will return to court on April 17th for a pretrial conference. He’s being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
