Marquette Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – For the first time since 2019, both the Marquette men’s and women’s basketball teams will compete in the NCAA tournaments in March. They both begin their tournaments on the same day, Friday, March 17.
The program held a send-off event for both programs on Wednesday afternoon.

The men’s team is competing in the tournament for the 35th time in program history, and for the second year in a row. The Golden Eagles face Vermont at 1:45 p.m. on CBS in Columbus, OH. They are still looking for their first tournament win since 2012-13, after falling to North Carolina in the first round last year, 95-63.
The women’s team is back in the tournament for the first time since 2021 and looking for their first victory since 2019. On Friday, March 17, Marquette will face South Florida at 10:30 a.m. in Columbia, South Carolina. They will be playing at the home of the top overall seed and last year’s champion, South Carolina. This season, the Golden Eagles have defeated two Top 10 opponents, Texas and UConn. Those matchups gave the players confidence that they could advance past the second round for the first time in school history.
Several players from each team stated during the send-off event that they hope to feed off each other’s energy and make a deep tournament run.
