WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — An Ohio man being held in the Marathon County jail on suspicion of stalking his ex entered a not guilty plea to nearly 20 charges on Monday.
Joshua Keyes entered the plea during a preliminary hearing on Monday. The court then turned around and held a pre-trial on Tuesday morning. The 45-year-old is accused of stalking, forgery, and using a false identity to try to obtain money.
Three of the charges against him are felonies. He also faces misdemeanor counts of violating a restraining order and bail jumping.
According to police, Keyes contacted his former partner’s workplace with bogus complaints and emails about her mental health, posted false reviews about her work performance, and attempted to steal her direct deposit information. He also allegedly pretended to be an attorney when he contacted a local TV reporter with false information alleging that his former partner, who works in medicine, violated federal ethics and privacy rules on a regular basis.

Keyes was previously investigated by detectives for using his former girlfriend’s financial information to purchase items on the internet without her knowledge, according to court records.
Further court action against keys has not been scheduled. He’s being held in the Marathon County Jail on a $40,000 cash bond with numerous conditions including no-contact orders with three victims, identified only by their initials.
The complaint against him was filed in early February, and an arrest warrant was issued on the 13th. Court records show he retained an attorney the following week and was arrested in Fairfield County, Ohio on March 7th. Keyes made his initial appearance in Marathon County the next day.
