WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A Wausau father has been sentenced to at least nine years in prison after being convicted of reckless homicide for supplying a fatal dose of drugs to his son and girlfriend, both of whom died within hours of each other.
Following an inquiry into both fatalities, Roderick H. Schultz of Wausau was officially charged on July 6, 2021 in Marathon County Circuit Court with two charges of first-degree reckless homicide through distribution of drugs. Schultz was found guilty on one count of reckless homicide in November 2022. Although being dropped, new accusations were read into the record and will be taken into account for sentencing.
The sentencing hearing for Schultz was scheduled on March 3, but it was postponed after his lawyers requested a different presentencing investigation. Circuit Judge Suzanne O’Neill granted that request and agreed to move the sentencing date to Friday, March 24.
After being found guilty, Schultz was taken into custody right away, and the Wisconsin Prison System has begun handling his processing.
