SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A Tuesday morning fire in a Schofield duplex was caused by a lit candle.
WAOW TV reports that the Riverside Fire Department was called to the duplex in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue. A reporter on the scene said he saw smoke coming from the top level, and that witnesses had also reported seeing smoke from the lower level.
Crews were able to put the flames out by mid-morning. One person did receive first-degree burns in the incident.
Officials are asking neighbors to be on the lookout for a cat, who made it out but has not been found.
