WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – On Wednesday in the afternoon, Tony Haase made an appearance in court and entered a not guilty plea for the 1992 double homicide of Timothy Mumbrue and Tanna Togstad.
Last year, DNA evidence linked Tony Haase, 51, to the murder of the two victims in March 1992.
According to police, Haase was distraught at the passing of his father, who was also killed in a snowmobile accident, which also involved Togstad’s father.
He testified that he did visit Togstad’s home on the night that she and Mumbrue died from stab wounds, though he claimed that his memory from the night of the killings is hazy because he had been drinking.
Haase will return to court on July 7th at 10 a.m.
