RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) – After a fire on Monday night in Rhinelander, R&T’s Dinky Diner is now being deemed a total loss.
Just before 6 p.m., the Rhinelander Fire Department responded to a fire call. According to a news release from the Rhinelander Fire Department, when crews arrived at the diner, they found heavy smoke coming from the back of the building.
At the time of the fire, Dinky Diner was closed, and all residents of the nearby apartments were safely evacuated. Due to the apartments’ gas and electricity being shut off, six people are currently without a place to live. Residents are receiving temporary shelter support from the Red Cross.
No one was injured or required medical attention. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
