DALLAS and HOUSTON, TX (WSAU) — The Big Ten will be represented in the Division I women’s basketball national championship after Iowa defeated top-seeded South Carolina 77-73 at the Women’s Final Four in Dallas.
National Player of the Year Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 41 points in the win. Iowa shot 49% in the game, compared to 39% for South Carolina.
The Gamecocks came into the game unbeaten and were the defending national champions.
The Hawkeyes will face LSU on Sunday. The Tigers defeated Virginia Tech 79-72.
The Men’s Final Four will get underway tonight in Houston with tournament darlings Florida Atlantic playing the first game against San Diego State University. Both schools are making their first-ever trip to the final weekend of the tournament. That game is set to tip at 5:09 PM, followed by Miami taking on UConn at 7:50 PM.
Tonight’s winners will meet Monday night. This year’s Final Four and National Championship game is available on CBS.
The Huskies are the only school in the tournament with previous Final Four experience.
