STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A 12-person jury returned a not guilty verdict against a Plover man accused of sexually assaulting a woman.
Terence Blackmon was taken into custody in 2019 after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in her home, after which the state Department of Justice allegedly tied his DNA to a sexual assault kit.
Jurors, however, did not find evidence to support that claim.
Blackmon’s trial lasted three days in Portage County.
The incident in question occurred back in 2012. Blackmon had been scheduled for trial in 2020 though that was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Another attempt to try the case was scheduled for 2021 but that was delayed as well.
