MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) – Starting Wednesday, the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department imposed a temporary ban on recreational burning within the cities limits.
This follows the National Weather Service’s recent Red Flag Warning for the majority of central and southern Wisconsin due to strong winds, warm temperatures, and dryness, all of which can lead to hazardous fire conditions.
According to the department, any outdoor burning should be avoided.
The fire ban will stay in effect until the weather improves and the National Weather Service cancels the Red Flag Warning.
As fire weather conditions reach dangerous levels, the National Weather Service in Green Bay has also issued a Red Flag Warning for Wausau and Marathon County.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the warning is in effect. The counties of Shawano, Wood, Portage, Waupaca, Outagamie, Waushara, Winnebago, and Calumet are also affected.
