WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Police say the man who caused a wrong-way crash on a ramp between US 51 and Highway 29 was intoxicated.
Deputy Chief Matthew Barnes identified the driver as Casey S. Lind, who will be cited for a first-offense OWI- causing injury and driving the wrong way on a highway. Lind was injured in the crash but has been released from the hospital.
Lind was driving south in the northbound lane at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle he struck was also injured but is expected to survive. He faces up to $2,000 in fines and 30 days to a year in jail, along with a license revocation.
The crash occurred Saturday morning and closed down the ramp between 2 AM and 7:30 AM while crews cleared the scene and investigated.
