SAN DIEGO, CA (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers opened their series against the Padres with a 4-3, extra innings win in San Diego.
Christian Yelich stole 3rd base and Rowdy Tellez hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th which plated the game winning run.
Tellez also crushed a two-run homer in the first inning while Mike Brosseau launched a solo shot in the fifth.
Devin Williams picked up the win and Joel Payamps got the save. Colin Rea, who was promoted from AAA Nashville before the game, started and pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up one run on two hits with 6 Ks.
Milwaukee improved to 9-and-4 and is still first in the NL Central. Game two of the four-game series takes place tonight. Freddy Peralta gets the start opposite Michael Wacha. Pre game show at 8:05 on WSAU.
