SAN DIEGO, CA (WSAU) — Eight of Milwaukee’s nine batters recorded at least one hit and six had two or more in an 11-2 thumping of San Diego on Friday.
Luke Voit led the way going 3-5 with three singles. DH Rowdy Tellez went 2-5 with a home run and four RBI. Willy Adames, Christian Yelich, and Brian Anderson also recorded two hits a piece.
Joey Weimer was the only Brewer to not record a hit in the game.
Eric Lauer collected the win after pitching six strong innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run. Bryse Wilson threw the last three innings and allowed four hits and one earned run.
Despite working with a sizeable lead Wilson was still credited with his first save of the season under the little-known rule which states that a reliever shall earn a save for protecting a lead while pitching at least three innings.
Things could have been much worse for San Diego. Despite scoring 11 runs Milwaukee was just 5-15 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base.
Former Brewer Trent Grisham led the Padres with two hits. Luis Campusano recorded a home run.
The same two teams will go at it again tonight at Petco Park. Pregame coverage on WSAU begins at 2:30 with the first pitch at 3:05.
