MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The Marshfield Clinic Health System will sunset its masking requirements for patients, visitors, and staff on Monday.
Officials with the health system made the announcement on Friday, saying face coverings will not be required for those entering a Marshfield Clinic facility. Anyone is still welcome to wear one if they so choose, and staff will mask up if asked to do so by a patient.
“Patient, visitor and employee safety is our number one priority for those entering and working in our facilities, and every COVID-19 guideline we put in place during the pandemic was for their protection,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Samantha Klebe. “Given the current trends showing lower rates in hospitalizations and community transmission, we believe we’re in a position to adjust some of those guidelines while maintaining a high level of safety and precaution”
Marshfield Clinic ended some of its other COVID-19 precautions including visitor restrictions and pre-procedure testing requirements in March. Officials add that they will continue to monitor the situation and statistics around COVID-19, and could reinstate policies if the situation warrants.
The news comes as the federal government is preparing to wind down the public health emergency for COVID-19 in May.
