GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – According to reports, Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba could be selected by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
An unnamed scout reportedly believes the Packers are a “sneaky team to watch” in terms of potentially selecting Smith-Njigba with the No. 15 pick, according to ESPN’s Matt Miller. JSN met with the Packers several times during the Combine, and during an interview, he stated, “They (Packers) are definitely looking for a receiver.”
JSN may go anywhere from the Houston Texans’ choice at No. 12 to the mid-20s, according to a scout, depending on how teams see his average 4.48 40-yard sprint time and the hamstring ailment that sidelined him for the most of last season.
Due to injury, he missed all but three of OSU’s games in his last season, but in 2021, when he was healthy, he was unstoppable, hauling in 95 passes for 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns.
Smith-Njigba is considered to be the top wide receiver in the draft, according to many NFL skill evaluators, though it is still unclear where he will end up.
