WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – People gathered on Tuesday for the annual “Hands Around the Courthouse” event outside the Marathon County courthouse in observance of Strengthening Families Month, formerly known as Child Abuse Awareness Month.
Every year, the court deals with countless cases of child abuse, many of which go undetected. Programs like Casa (Court Advocates for Children) in Marathon County help preserve intact families and provide a court-appointed sponsor for a child who is in protective custody.
Many experts believe that regardless of someone’s professional qualifications, anyone can assist a child in need. If you’re interested in volunteering, Casa will need volunteers to assist with cases later on this year.
