WESTON, WI (WSAU) — A Weston man will serve more than 11 years in federal prison for charges related to possession of methamphetamine.
Ryan Murray was handed 137 months in prison by Judge James D Peterson after pleading guilty to the charge earlier this year. Peterson noted that the 45-year-old has a history and pattern of violations on his record as a reason for the lengthy sentence. The Judge added that Murray is also known to keep himself heavily armed when conducting drug deals, which represents a clear danger to the community.
Charges stem from an investigation that occurred following a Lincoln County car crash in January of 2022. Investigators say they found Murray, the driver, some distance away from the scene. Officers said he had a bag of meth and a firearm with him at the time.
Officers also found a rifle, loaded magazines, and a suppressor in his vehicle.
Murray also had several state cases that were open against him at the time of the crash. Some of those have been settled, resulting in state prison and county jail sentences that will run alongside his federal sentence.
