MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Wade Miley had another quality start on Friday night as the Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 2-1.
The Brewers’ 17-9 record this season may largely be attributed to their defense. Before Friday night, the Milwaukee Brewers had the most defensive runs saved in Major League Baseball with 25.
Willy Adames homered in the opening inning off Angels starter Tyler Anderson, the veteran left-hander’s only blemish in 6 2/3 innings.
The play of the night came in the eighth inning when Brosseau had a throwing error that put Strzelecki in a tough spot with big hitters coming up. With one out, Shohei Ohtani’s single put the Angels runners at the bases, but Strzelecki was able to get out Anthony Rendon on a flyout to center field and Hunter Renfroe on a bouncer to third.
A ground ball was then hit to Brosseau at third and he had to swiftly get the baseball to first to prevent the run from scoring. Voit was forced to fall to the ground while completing the grab, although keeping his foot on first base.
