WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – In a first-of-its-kind event honoring Hmong Heritage Month, several middle school students in Wausau had the chance to showcase their culture in full on Friday.
The event was held at Horace Mann Middle School, and Culture Club members from both Horace Mann and John Muir Middle Schools participated as models, performers, and emcees.
The program was broken up into several parts, including a fashion show, solo musical performances, a break centered around food, and cultural dancing.
“From Laos to America” displayed museum objects outside the theater as tangible representations of Laotian history.
Since 2004, Wisconsin has annually observed Hmong Heritage Month.
