WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Congressman Tom Tiffany sat down with area businesses on Wednesday to discuss the biggest issues facing them.
One of the biggest trends the businesses were highlighting was the issue of finding enough local talent to fill their open positions.
“They want the federal government to not be an impediment on what they’re doing and one of the big things we put in the debt ceiling bill was to make sure that able-bodied people work and promote work not welfare,” Tiffany said afterward.
Some business owners also discussed the issues with the rising costs of homes in central Wisconsin and noted that the higher costs are causing prospective employees to not want to work and live in the area.
Tiffany also spoke about where he views negations on the debt limit stand at this point saying, “We are providing leadership at this point, we said, okay we are going to raise the credit card for you President Biden…a little bit…$1.5 trillion but in exchange there has to be a little fiscal responsibility.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has slammed the GOPs debt-limit bill, claiming that budget cuts will harm families, veterans, and the economy’s stability.
