The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer who was involved in a critical incident in the township of Glenwood Wisconsin.
On Saturday, at approximately 6:15 P.M, a St. Croix County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched for a report of a potentially drunk driver that was located in a ditch. When they arrived on the scene, the deputy reported shots had been fired. The officer involved sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital, where they later died. The shooter involved in the incident fled the scene and was found later deceased in a wooded area, with a gunshot wound.
Law enforcement says there is no threat to the community at this time.
DCI is leading this investigation, and is assisted by neighboring law enforcement agencies that include; Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, and DCI Crime Response Specialists. All involved law enforcement are working with DCI during this investigation.
The DCI is continuing to review the evidence, and the facts of this incident. Any investigative reports will be turned over to the St. Croix County District Attorney when the investigation concluded.
