Frustration builds for the Milwaukee Brewers as they lost their 6th game straight yesterday. They faced off against the San Francisco Giants who took the win over the Brewers, 4-1.
The Brewers trailed for most of the game and barely avoided a shutout in the 9th inning. The Giants scored in the 2nd using a walk and a double to take a 1-0 lead. Thairo Estrada had a 2-run home in the 3rd, while Brett Wisely added a solo homer in the 7th. Colin Rea pitched 6 innings and allowed only 3 runs. Tyson Miller added 2 more innings from the bullpen, allowing just a solo home run.
Milwaukee had chances to score with 6 hits and 5 walks in the game. Brice Turang led with a 2-for-4-day, but the Brewers ended up leaving 9 runners on base as a team and went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring positions.
Craig Counsell got ejected from the game during the 4th inning, and it may have been his angriest ejection yet. While facing Rowdy Tellez with Adames at first base, Alex Cobb threw to 1st base, 3 times in a row to try and get Adames. According to a new rule that has been implemented, 3 disengagements without recording the out is a balk, but the balk was not called. Counsell got angry regarding the matter and marched on the field with a few other coaches and was ejected.
Today, the Brewers will try to end their losing streak and avoid the sweep by the Giants. Adrian Houser will return and start for the Milwaukee-facing Ross Stripling of the Giants. The first pitch is at 3:05 PM, and pre-game coverage on WSAU begins at 2:30.
