STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of being behind the wheel for a deadly crash on US Highway 10 last November has a plea and sentencing hearing scheduled.
Axel Crus-Zelaya is facing one count of knowingly operating a vehicle without a valid license- causing death in the crash on November 18th. Authorities say he was driving a car with three passengers when he lost control, causing a rollover. One of the passengers, identified as Miguel Angel Hernandez-Valdivia of Appleton, died in the incident.
Crus-Zelaya was arrested and charged with the felony a few weeks later. Officers say speed and poor road conditions factored in the crash. The 30-year-old previously pled not guilty to the charge.
