MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Dodgers are currently playing the Brewers in Milwaukee and visiting teams have historically stayed at the prestigious Pfister Hotel.
However, due to the Pfister Hotel’s reputation for being haunted, star outfielder Mookie Betts has chosen not to stay there with his teammates.
To prevent the possibility of any ghostly happenings, Betts has instead chosen to rent an Airbnb that he will share with some friends, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
Betts has stayed at the Pfister during former road trips to Milwaukee, but it appears that he is taking no chances this time around.
The 30-year-old insisted that although he doesn’t believe in ghosts, he would rather be safe than inexperience something and be proven incorrect.
The Pfister Hotel was founded in 1893 and has a long and storied history. Many baseball players have shared spooky accounts of their stays at the famous hotel, including 2015 NL MVP Bryce Harper of the Phillies, who said he woke up to find his clothes on the floor and a table moved to the other side of his hotel room.
Former Brewers star Carlos Gomez also had paranormal experiences at the hotel saying, “I’m scared to go there,” he said. “They should change the hotel. Everybody here doesn’t like the hotel. Why [do] they always put us in the same hotel when you can’t sleep?
“Everything’s scary. Everything in the hotel, the paintings and pictures, it’s a lot of old, crazy stuff. No good, man. No good.”
The Dodgers and Brewers will play the final game of their series today. The pregame begins at 12:10 CST on WSAU and the first pitch is at 12:40 CST. Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw will face off against Wade Miley.
