GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Jordan Love appeared at his official first official press conference as the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback on Wednesday alongside Packer stars Kenny Clark and Aaron Jones.
When asked about the Aaron Rodgers trade, Love stated that he had spoken with him since the deal. He wished Rodgers well and promised to be there for him if he needed anything and said, “I’m always grateful to be around him.”
The Packers’ new starting quarterback also spoke about what it was like to wait three years to become the starter saying, “It seemed like three years, it seemed like a while looking back on it. The first year was the longest. … Definitely felt like a while.”
Love was asked what his expectations were for this upcoming season and responded, “I think we have a really good team … I’ve really got confidence in myself.”
Kenny Clark spoke following Love and told reporters that he worked out with first-round pick Lukas Van Ness for three weeks this offseason in Southern California while Van Ness was preparing for the combine.
Clark said Van Ness is “going to be great” and praised his versatility on the defensive line.
He also discussed the changes the franchise is currently going through saying, “It’s different for sure, but it’s awesome. We’ve got a team that’s young, a lot of hungry guys and it’s exciting to see how we come out.”
Aaron Jones offered Jordan Love praise during the press conference when he said, “He believes in himself, that’s No. 1. You’ve got to believe in yourself or nobody else is going to believe in you. … He did it the right way, waited his turn and you never heard one peep or complaint.”
Aaron Jones said he wanted to throw with Jordan Love in California this offseason to get their timing down.
