STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — UWSP has received yet another large donation, this time for renovations to the football practice fields.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Al Thompson says the $1 million gift will help install two full-size field turf surfaces that’ll be used by all students, and not just Pointer student-athletes. “They will enhance all student activities,” said Thompson
Pointer football will continue to practice on the fields, but they will also be reserved for use by club sports and intramurals as well. The fields will also become the home of the Pointer women’s lacrosse program and can be used by the soccer team as well.
“We want to get students out and about so they can be active while upgrading our facilities so everyone can use them,” added Thompson.
In addition to the field turf surfacing the donation will help install lights, bleachers, and a press box.
The donation came from former Pointer student-athletes Breck and Sheri Loos and a third donor, who choose to remain anonymous. The Loos’ say they hope the donation will encourage others to give back to the school as well.
