MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Corbin Burnes (4-2) threw six shutout innings to lead Milwaukee to a 5-1 win over Kansas City in interleague play on Friday.
The Brewers’ starter allowed just two hits and four walks while striking out six. He threw 106 pitches, 60 for strikes. Joel Payamps picked the 7th, allowing a solo home run to catcher Freddy Fermin.
Peter Strzelecki and Elvis Peguero handled the 8th and 9th, respecitvely. Peguero struckout two to close the game.
Mequon native Owen Miller led the offense, recording his first home run of the season as part of a 3-4 day at the plate. He also picked up a double, leaving him just a triple short of the cycle, and two runs scored.
Christian Yelich and Brian Anderson each recorded two hits. Tyrone Taylor went 1-4 with an RBI.
Taylor was also knocked for a pitch timer violation in the game.
The Royals and Brewers meet again tonight at American Family Field. Pregame coverage on WSAU begins at 5:35 PM.
