WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Police in Wausau arrested a 39-year-old man after a stabbing incident on Friday.
Officers say they received a report of a stabbing in a home on 4th Avenue at 4 AM, but when they arrived there was no one at the scene. Three hours later a 40-year-old man showed up at a local emergency room with stab wounds, and officers were able to confirm that he was the victim of that incident.
The victim was treated and released for his injuries.
Later in the afternoon officers were able to locate and arrest Jason Hopinka on suspicion of recklessly endangering safety and substantial battery. He was booked into the Marathon County jail and is scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.
