WHITING, WI (WSAU) – On Sunday, a worker from Whiting’s Mativ Inc. Paper Mill died in a workplace accident.
The employee at the paper mill was reported to be stuck in a paper machine at 12:47 on Sunday, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release.
EMS workers and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and administered CPR. The 40-year-old man died as a result of his wounds a short while after that, according to the release.
As of right now, the deceased man’s name is being withheld. The Plover Fire Department, Plover EMR, Portage County Ambulance, Aspirus MedEvac, Portage County Chaplain Services, and the Portage County Medical Examiner all offered assistance to the sheriff’s office on the scene.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Mativ Inc. Paper Mill are both investigating the incident.
