WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Kronenwetter man has been charged with delivering drugs that contained fentanyl.
Wyatt Gates is facing eight counts including a second offense of manufacturing or delivering fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute, and recklessly endangering safety- all felonies. He’s accused of selling drugs to a man who passed out in a Schofield nightclub earlier this month. When he came to, he admitted that he had injected the drugs and immediately knew something was wrong.
Investigators say the substance tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, though the victim said he was told the drugs didn’t contain fentanyl. Gates was later identified as the seller, and officers were able to arrest him at his Kronenwetter home. They also found over 20 grams of meth and items used to measure and package drugs.
He also faces misdemeanor charges for bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia
The 22-year-old is also facing repeat modifiers on the charges against him. Court records show he has two other open cases against him for operating with a revoked license and possessing THC. A preliminary hearing for the most recent charges is scheduled for May 22nd.
