GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Packers are expressing interest in adding a veteran wide receiver after releasing safety James Wiggins yesterday.
Former Houston Texan receiver Keke Coutee worked out for the team today, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Coutee, a Houston fourth-round pick, caught 22 receptions in nine games in 2019, 33 catches in eight games in 2020, and 28 passes in six seasons as a rookie. He caught 11 receptions in his NFL debut, which is the most in league history. He is regarded as a versatile receiver with the ability to return punts and give Love another weapon in the slot.
In the past two seasons, Coutee, 26, played in just 10 games for the Indianapolis Colts and had two receptions.
He returned 17 punts for an average of 8.9 yards in 2022 while catching one pass. He also botched three punts and fumbled his lone catch.
The Packers have 10 receivers currently under contract, including 2022 undrafted free agents Malik Heath and Duece Watts as well as draft choices Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Grant DuBose.
