MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) — A two-day training session begins today at the Central Wisconsin Airport.
Local fire departments will be at the facility Tuesday and Wednesday to practice against live fires on aircraft, particularly in the fuselage of a passenger jet and various scenarios involving the runway at the facility.
Residents are advised that the training will involve live, active fire meaning smoke will be visible coming from CWA, particularly for those traveling on Highway 153. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office says they will have signage alerting residents to the situation posted along the highway, and residents should not be alarmed if they see fire activity in the area including smoke and fire trucks.
Airport officials say the training will have minimal impact on normal airport operations.
