WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A jury trial will be held for a Marathon County man accused of trying to lure a teen for drugs and sex in a case covering multiple complaints.
Jason Olerich will face a one-day trial on November 30th for felony counts including using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, possession of THC and designer drugs with the intent to deliver and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
Investigators say the 39-year-old was chatting with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl. During the conversations, Olerich made arrangements to pick the “girl” up and supply her with drugs in exchange for sex.
Despite several reminders that “she” was 15, Olerich insisted on moving forward with the plans. Officers then arrested him as he was waiting to pick her up.
Other charges against him relate to child neglect, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bail jumping. Olerich has been free on a $10,000 bond after paying the first $2,500 in cash. A motion hearing in the case will be held on October 24th, and a jury status update is scheduled for November 22nd.
Olerich had previously been scheduled for trial in July of 2022 on some of the charges. That was put on hold while the state combined the cases into one.
