MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A Chicago man will serve ten years in federal prison for distributing meth in the Wausau area.
Anthony Anderson was sentenced on Thursday after pleading guilty to distributing 50 grams or more of the drug back in January. Charges stem from multiple incidents in 2022 where Anderson sold meth to an undercover informant.
One such incident occurred in March. Anderson received $450 for one ounce of the drug, he then gave the informant a second ounce. A separate transaction occurred in August involving ten ounces of meth being sold for $4,200.
Judge Peterson concluded that a significant sentence was warranted because Anderson had an extensive criminal history including two prior drug trafficking convictions. Judge Peterson also noted that the large quantity of methamphetamine sold by Anderson demonstrated that his overall level of drug trafficking had increased from the time of his prior convictions.
Charges were the result of an investigation conducted by the Wausau PD, Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force, and FBI.
